In a stunning reversal, the NBA has admitted to not being able to fix its basketball ratings problems.
The league’s sports news warriors have been discussing the problem for months, but NBA commissioner Adam Silver has been slow to admit his agency was not the answer.
Now, in an interview with ESPN, Silver admits that the NBA needs a different way of communicating the sport to get the sport’s fans to tune in.

The NBA had already announced it was cutting the salary cap to keep up with the salary caps of other major leagues and it has a growing roster of superstar players.
NBA commissioner Paul Allen had said that the league would not cut the cap until the players began protesting.
The players are protesting the playing of the national anthems by the United States military, the deaths of Black people at the hands of police, the treatment of African-Americans in prisons and the mistreatment of people with mental health issues.
“I don’t think anybody is happy with the way the players are playing the anthem,” Silver told ESPN.
“But we’re always going to get our players on the floor if they’re trying to raise awareness.”
The NBA was already losing subscribers and fans to other leagues, and Silver had even hinted at that.
The NFL, meanwhile, is seeing massive ratings declines from its flagship show, The NFL.
The ratings of the NFL is down from what it was a year ago.
“A couple of years ago, the ratings of our game was pretty great,” Silver explained.
“And they’re not as great now as they were in 2010.
So when we’re looking at those numbers, we need to make sure we’re making the best investment we can in the business.”
