Two years ago, Nilsens son Sven was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer.
He is currently being treated in the United States and, for now, his condition is expected to improve.
The pair were in the US to film the film The World of Weeds and it was a great chance to talk about the challenges they face in their everyday lives and the difficulties they face when filming together.
‘We are in our twenties, we live in an amazing time, but in our minds we know we are more than that,’ Nils said.
‘When you have children, you get to go to the cinema and see a movie and see the stars, but I think in the beginning, we were so focused on the family.’
It’s really about how we can create a world where there are no limits.
There are no expectations.
It’s a really big challenge and I think we are going to do it.’
Sven is now being treated at University Hospital of Philadelphia, which has provided the twins with a supportive environment, including a new school, gym and library.
‘It’s been amazing,’ Nels said.
Nils says Sven’s life has changed greatly after being diagnosed with the rare form.
‘He’s a lot calmer now, and he’s got a really good sense of humour,’ he said.
The twins have also recently begun a new life together, having moved into a new apartment and started working together on the film.
‘As parents, it was always a big challenge because we didn’t know where our children were going to live,’ Nesens son said.
In the film, the pair were introduced to a new family in Philadelphia.
‘They were really supportive and they have their own way of living,’ Nelsen said.
As part of the film project, the brothers are hoping to travel the world.
‘I’m really happy about that,’ Sven said.
While they are still getting used to the world, Nelsen is optimistic.
‘Hopefully I will have a lot more friends here in the States and the whole world in a few years.’
Nils is currently working on The World’s Greatest Movie, which he hopes will go down as one of the best movies of all time.
Nelsen says he wants to share the story of his parents and the challenges of filming a film together.’
They have a very positive outlook and they are very positive people,’ Nettens son Nils told FourFourtwo.
‘In my opinion, they are more successful than any other family I have ever known.
I can’t imagine a better family.’
