The next fight for Mike “The Phenom” Tyson, a two-time boxing champion and Olympic gold medalist, will be his first since he was knocked out by Wladimir Klitschko in the seventh round of their November 2016 rematch at Madison Square Garden.
Tyson, who was knocked unconscious by Klitschkow in the ninth round of that fight, said he’d love to return to the ring.
“I’m a little disappointed that it wasn’t my fight.
It was the fight that I was looking forward to and the one that I wanted,” Tyson said Thursday.
“I was expecting to get the title shot, and now I’m looking back and I’m like, ‘Man, I never would have expected to get it.
I had this dream and now it’s just not happening.'”
It’s a tough time.
Tyson, who has a long history of injuries, said there was no guarantee he’d be able to fight again.””
There are a lot of reasons for that, but I’m glad to be back on the road and back in the ring with a couple of my friends.”
Tyson, who has a long history of injuries, said there was no guarantee he’d be able to fight again.
“We’re all in this together,” Tyson told the New York Daily News.
“We’ve all been through this together.
It’s not something you want to have happen.
So I guess it’s kind of unfortunate for me that it’s not my next fight.”
In October, Tyson and his wife, Jessica, announced their divorce.
The fight between Tyson and Klitschkos was widely panned by fans.
The bout was scheduled to be held on April 16 at Madison Palace.
