The National Football League announced Thursday that four teams will not make the playoffs this season.
The NFL announced that the Atlanta Falcons will be dropped from the playoffs after their 30-28 win over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night.
The New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs will be knocked out of the playoffs, as well.
The Falcons were one of the league’s hottest teams last season, winning seven of their first eight games.
They finished the season ranked No. 4 in the NFL and were a wild card playoff team that made the postseason.
The team lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, though.
The team has a chance to be the first franchise to ever finish in the top three in the NFC South for two consecutive seasons.
Atlanta had a chance at making the playoffs last season when they finished seventh in the division, but they fell in the wild card round to the Seattle Seahawks.
The Falcons will not play again until December, which is when the playoffs will start.
